. . . A Sense of Our Past
147 North High Street Church
A Methodist Episcopal Congregational was in existence from approximately 1893 until 1936 when 105 members from that congregation agreed to become Gahanna Community Church.
As Gahanna grew during the 1940's, '50's and '60's, so did the church. For several years two Sunday morning worship services were held to meet the needs of the growing congregation. In 1965 the congregation voted to build a new church building 470 Havens Corners Road. Groundbreaking was held in February 1967 and a dedication service for the newly completed building was held October 13, 1968.
During the years that followed, the church continued to see steady growth, especially in the area of Christian Education. In 1994 the congregation voted to construct an addition to the build, using the area above the narthex for a new nursery, crib room Sunday School and audio-visual rooms. Extensive improvements were made on the main level of the building including the offices, narthex and the constructing of a lounge. Construction began in late 1994 and a dedication service was held October 22, 1995.
